SMUC has already established partnership with some foreign institutions. Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SMUC and University College Plymouth St. Mark and St. John (Marjon) UK, SMUC developed short story books targeting second cycle primary school students. The books, which are prepared for different grade levels, the Teacher’s Guide, and the Teacher Training module, have been published and distributed to public primary schools all over Ethiopia. Click KeySWOTT to download the story books. This link, which aimed at building capacity of women teacher educators, has also benfited 12 of SMUC staff to have training on story writing.

Similarly, in partnership with the New Business School Amsterdam, the Marketing Management Department at SMUC is running a project to Promote fair trade in general and Ethiopian Coffee in particular. The project, which is intended for benefiting Ethiopian coffee growers through fair trade, has reached its final stage of packaging under the brand name – ‘Meleya’.
SMUC has also established links with the University of Puntland in Somaliland and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in India. As partner with IGNOU, SMUC runs post-graduate programs in various fields of studies. Teachers in higher education institutions, civil servants and others in business and industry have benefited from these distance learning programs.
To enable the staff and students have access to a research database, the institution has established links with JSTOR, which has made its resources readily available to SMUC community. In a separate institutional link, MIT has sent SMUC an open courseware, which contains modules of diverse fields of studies. SMUC is also a member of the Asian Pacific Quality Network (APQN), which is serving quality Assurance Agencies in higher education.
