In an effort to implement the TVET and TESO policies set by MoE and with a view to facilitate IT common courses, the Distance Education Division has organized computer laboratories for practical learning of IT and computer science courses in selected distance education Coordination Centers. Further effort is being made to organize the same in the remaining centers.
Science Laboratories
The Teacher Education Faculty at Lideta Campus has Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories, as well as a Pedagogic Center. The science laboratories are usually used by trainees of Natural Science Stream. These trainees are exposed to practical work so that they can reinforce their theoretical studies with practice, which will enable them to develop a scientific attitude towards their career.
Natural Science Laboratory equipment, instruments, and chemicals, including mobile science kits, are available at a number of strategically located Distance Education Coordinating Centers for use by students during practical laboratory training.

Secretarial Science Labs
In the main and Lideta campuses, six secretarial science labs with more than 160 typewriters are available for students of SSOM. A Secretarial Science Model Office has also been set up for Secretarial Science students so that they can engage in practical tasks.
