Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO)
The primary mission of Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) is to support the academic mission of the University College in ways that enable students to complete their course of study most effectively. The Office mainly offers two major services: student support, and guidance and counseling services. The latter is handled by the Guidance and Counseling Unit, which works under SASO.
Student Support Services require acting as an advocate for students, consulting and working with individual students and student groups and working with other offices in the University College in creating a sense of community at SMUC. SASO is discharging this responsibility in a manner that would meet student expectations. It works closely with the various student clubs to coordinate fraternities and sororities. The Cultural Forum, the weekly Friday Student Talk-Show, Social Welfare Club, Gender Club, and the Sports Club are among the clubs SASO is closely working with.
Equally important, the Office provides general information related to rules, regulations, procedures, etc of the University college to students in demand. The Head of SASO chairs the Student Discipline Committee and hears student grievances and coordinates disciplinary actions. In addition, the Office oversees the activities of the Guidance and Counseling Unit and the Student Wellness and Development Center, which provides the entire student with relevant information on HIV/AIDS |
