
At SMUC, the question of ‘how much have we satisfied our stakeholders?’ has always been at the forefront of the institutional agenda. Accordingly, quality issues are given a prominent place in all facets of the University College set-up. To this end, the quality audit system, which looks into whether the institution lives up to the expectations of its stakeholders, is put in place to work toward realizing its stated goals and mission.
The research undertaking that goes hand in hand with the teaching-learning process has contributed a great to enhance the quality of education. Organizing big conferences aside, students present their research works at the annual student research forum.
The friendly learning environment at St. Mary’s is supplemented by opportunities in which students could get involved in socializing and philanthropic activities. The community services that have been scaled up through time to enable students undergo charitable work and discharge their social responsibilities.
Students enjoy the ample opportunity to make use of the more - than 13 computer laboratories and the wireless internet access. They can also make use of the language enhancement classes conducted by a native speaker and intended for enabling them improve their English Language speaking skills free of charge.
The weekly Friday Talk Show programme organized by students for students has given them the forum where they could share ideas and propose solutions to the problems they encounter on and off-campus. The Creative Arts night is another event where students present their poetic works and readings.
Giving special emphasis to gender issues at SMUC, where females constitute more than half the student population, there is a Special Interest Group on Gender (SIGG) with its own office, which offers training focusing on gender and promotes gender equality and equity issues campus wide.
